Southern Maryland Newspapers the opening of our Museum on Main Street tour, CROSSROADS: CHANGE IN RURAL AMERICA, on Serenity Farm in Benedict. This is the tour's first stop in Maryland.

"Crossroads: Change in Rural America", a traveling Smithsonian Institution exhibition, is opening at Serenity Farm in Benedict on September 8. The farm serves as the first venue of a five-stop tour of the state, presented through Maryland Humanities’ Museum on Main Street program.

Maryland Humanities will now provide general operating support grants to humanities-focused Maryland nonprofits. With initial seed funding of $500,000 from the State of Maryland, the SHINE (Strengthening the Humanities Investment in Nonprofits for Equity) Grants program launches this fall.

Six Maryland students won a Gold, Medal, or Bronze Medal at National History Day, held virtually June 12–18, 2022. Thirteen Maryland Students Special Prizes, were awarded Outstanding State Entry, or were selected as a Finalist.

Nearly 500 middle and high school students presented their extensive historical research at the first in-person Maryland History Day State Contest in three years. The competition, held on April 30 at UMBC, is the culmination of a year-long program from Maryland Humanities.
