Prepare Yourself for the Next Disaster! One Maryland One Book Program

September 28 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

In the 2024 One Maryland One Book selection, What Storm, What Thunder by Myriam J. A. Chancy, characters experience the aftermath of the devastating 2011 earthquake that shook the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince. While earthquakes are rare and historically mild in Maryland, other natural disasters are inevitable. Having a plan and being situationally aware are your best tools for staying safe and achieving a positive outcome.

Join Brian Pearsall, Emergency Planner with Kent County Office of Emergency Services, to learn about the types of natural disasters that are most likely to affect Maryland’s Eastern Shore and how you can be ready when they do. In addition to taking home a wealth of knowledge, you will have an opportunity to start building an emergency kit with a selection of FEMA-recommended items and to work on creating an emergency plan that is customized to your unique needs.
