2025 Author Tour: October 6-10

A collage of Carole Boston Weatherford on one side and Jeffery Boston Weatherford on the other. Carole B is an older Black woman with shoulder-length kinky hair, the top of which is gray. She wears a red long-sleeved top and thick black-rimmed glasses. Jeffery is a young or middle-aged Black man. He wears a satiny white button-down shirt. The photo has him outside in front of a blue, cloudy sky. We see trees and grass faintly in the background.

Want to be an author tour host?

Each year, Maryland Humanities organizes an author tour enhance and support programs around the state. The tour provides an opportunity for the author to speak to and engage with One Maryland One Book participants by giving a moderated talk or participating in a community event, with space for audience Q&A and book signing.

We are inviting applications for community partners under the following roles in the Author Tour:

  1. Regional Partnership: Serve as the location site for the Author Tour, and are responsible for providing the venue, staffing, and other needs.
  2. Community Sponsors: Can’t host an event but want to be involved? Support OMOB Author Tour programs through monetary support or in-kind donations. Sponsors will be credited in Maryland Humanities promotions and material.

We invite Maryland organizations to complete an application in order to receive consideration as a site to host the author during the official 2025 One Maryland One Book Author Tour between Monday, October 6 and Friday, October 10, 2025

For each event, Maryland Humanities will provide:

  • Coordination for the author’s payments, travel, and accommodations during the author tour.
  • Ensure author’s attendance at the event.
  • Bookmarks and posters for promotion (while supplies last)
  • Support for coordinating and organizing the event, including timelines, logistics, and author guidance.
  • Support for the event’s promotion and marketing

Each host will be responsible for a $1000 sponsorship. This contribution assists us in offsetting costs for the above items, as the primary coordinator of the OMOB Author Tour.

All events must be free and open to the public.

Applications for the author tour are by invite only.

If your organization is interested in hosting the Author Tour, please reach out to Aditya Desai at adesai@mdhumanities.org.

We will respond to schedule a meeting and discuss details.

Tour dates & locations will be decided, with partners notified by early June 2025.
