Maryland Humanities Announces “Humanities Now,” a New Strategic Plan

(Baltimore, MD) —Maryland Humanities unveils Humanities Now, the organization’s Strategic Plan for 2022–2025. Maryland Humanities feels that Humanities Now positions the organization to deepen support for humanities organizations in Maryland by serving as a collaborator, nexus, and convener. Maryland Humanities plans to use the humanities as a lens to explore racial justice, challenges to democracy, climate change, and more, conveying the relevance of the humanities to the current moment.

In conjunction with and as an outgrowth of this new plan,  Maryland Humanities has reframed its mission and values. Maryland Humanities creates and supports bold experiences that explore and elevate our shared stories to connect people, enhance lives, and enrich communities. Maryland Humanities believes in:

• The invaluable knowledge and skills the humanities offer, promoting rigorous thinking and challenging people to consider complex issues, new ideas, and alternative points of view.
• The power of the humanities to enrich lives, building thoughtful, engaged communities.
• A community of belonging, celebrating and embracing each authentic self, lived experience, identity, and idea.
• A strong, equitable Maryland, valuing democracy, collaboration, learning, and leading.
